Empowering Quotes About Bullying: Inspiring Resilience and Empathy

Empowering Quotes About Bullying: Inspiring Resilience and Empathy

In a world where you a can be anything, Be KIND. This is one of my favorite anti-bullying quotes to live by when we are thinking of ways to cultivate empathy in our children. As a school counselor I am consistently giving reminders to students to choose kindness, to remember how powerful our words can be.

I often use this quote when teaching about verbal bullying, "It is our words that either build up our friends or tear them down so choose wisely what you say." Using empowering stop bullying quotes can help foster the empathy and resilience in not only elementary aged children but in young adults as well. It is that same concept of the power of words that led to all the key points that will be discussed in this article.

What does the Bible Say about Bullying Behavior

While the Bible may not explicitly use the word "bullying," it does contain verses that address themes of mistreatment, oppression, and the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. Here are a few verses that relate to these themes:

  1. Proverbs 6:16-19 (ESV): "There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers."

  2. Matthew 7:12 (ESV): "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets."

  3. Matthew 18:6 (ESV): "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea."

  4. Luke 6:31 (ESV): "And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them."

  5. Ephesians 4:29 (ESV): "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear."

  6. 1 Peter 3:8-9 (ESV): "Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing."

  7. Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV): "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

  8. Romans 12:17-18 (ESV): "Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all."

These verses emphasize the importance of treating others with love, respect, and kindness, and they discourage harmful behavior or mistreatment of others. They provide guidance on how to interact with fellow human beings in a compassionate and just manner.
