Why You Should Use A Body Sensations Chart

Why You Should Use A Body Sensations Chart

Most people are familiar with a feeling chart and how it can help you categorize emotions in order to better understand how you are feeling. However, most people have never heard of a body sensations chart.

Just as your emotions contain powerful information to help you understand you; your body also contains powerful information to help you understand you.  Listening to your body will help you discover your core emotions, connect to your authentic self, and live a life that honors God, just as learning to listen to your emotions will help you better live the life God has called you to love. Below is a list of common words for physical sensations. You can also download our bodily sensation journal here.

How to Use a Body Sensation Chart

It is recommended that you use a body sensation chart when you are journaling, planning, or tracking your wellness and self-care.  It is also a useful tool to use when you are feeing strong emotions or "just not right."  You can also use a body sensation chart to better understand someone else and as a conversation starter.

It is important to remember that God created each of us unique.  As a result, everyone's experience of what is going on in their body will be different.  Therefore, two people can experience the exact same things and that experience will affect each person's body differently.
