5 Christian Truths to Hold Onto When Facing Any Crisis

5 Christian Truths to Hold Onto When Facing Any Crisis

Christian Crisis Bible verse Psalm 23:4

Going through a crisis is hard. We've all been through one at some point in our lives and we all hope that we'll never have to go through it again.

The thing is, God never promised us an easy life. There will be times of great pain and heartache in our lives. We will all go through things we have no idea how to handle, and we will do everything we can to avoid feeling that way again.

Christian crisis quote by Christian Counselor Corine Williams

But avoiding the crisis is never the answer. Can anyone win a battle they don’t fight? The best thing to do is face your crisis head-on, with the powerful weapon God gave you, His Word.

God’s Word contains truth for every situation we could ever go through in our lives. And that truth is enough to not only help us face our battles but to win them too.

Here are 5 truths to hold on to when facing a crisis:

Because of Christ, We have Victory Over Any Crisis

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world. ~ John 16:33.

These were the words Jesus Christ told His disciples shortly before he was betrayed, arrested, and crucified.

He didn't want to leave them, nor us, with a false notion that we will live a life without troubles on earth. He made it clear that we will have trouble, but He also made it clear that He has already overcome it.

So though we face times of crisis, it will be only for a moment. Our victory is guaranteed. Because of Christ, no crisis we ever face will have victory over us.

Because of Christ, We Can Have a Peace That Passes Understanding

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7.

The peace that comes from the world is conditional. It depends on who we are, where we are, what we have, and what we do. Its foundation is on things that can easily change. This kind of peace fluctuates and disappears when we need it the most.

On the other hand, the peace that comes from God does not depend on our circumstances. We could be going through the worst days of our lives and still be at peace.

Does that sound crazy? It's supposed to! We're not supposed to understand it, this kind of peace surpasses our understanding.

The peace we feel in the midst of our crisis will never make sense to us, but it will do what it's meant to. It will comfort us, and it will guard our hearts and minds.

The Holy Spirit Will Help Us

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. ~ Romans 8:26-27.

When we look at our crisis from our perspective, all we see is pain. Yet when we look again from God's perspective, somehow we see a purpose.

The Holy Spirit helps us see things from God's perspective. He helps us see that even when we are hurting, we're winning, because God is in control.

Aside from showing us God's perspective, the Holy Spirit also takes ours to God. On the days we're too hurt to pray, He prays for us. He intercedes for us according to the will of God. We can trust the Holy Spirit to help us in every season of our lives.Help find a Christian Counselor or Life coach ad

The Crisis Will Work Out for Our Good

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. ~ Romans 8:28.

It may sound crazy to think that a crisis will work out for good, I mean it's the very definition of something gone bad. However, the Bible says that God works ALL THINGS  for our good, it never says "crisis excluded." Nothing in the Word of God is a lie. So no matter how bad it seems right now, we need to believe that it will work for our good.

We won't always be able to see the purpose in our pain and we won't always understand why we have to go through certain things. We will have days that this scripture seems hard to believe, but we need to believe it - because it's true. God is in control, He will take what the enemy intends for evil and turn it for good.

This Too Shall Pass

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1.

There are people that love winter and others who can't wait for it to pass. People who love the holiday season and others who can't wait for it to pass. People who love their jobs and others who can't wait for the workday to be over.

My point? There's a time for everything. Seasons change, and nobody will necessarily like every season they're in. However, if God allows something to happen, it has a purpose. When He allows a crisis, we need to realize that He know's what He's doing and things will get better, but in His time, not ours.

The tough times in our lives will pass, we only need to stay close to God, believe in His truth, and He will give us the strength and endurance to persevere until it does.
