Why Do We Need To Pray For Our World
With disease, unrest, war, starvation and so much more plaguing our world today, the real question is, why not pray? Our world is broken and prayer is one of the most powerful weapons we as humans have to fix it.
In fact, as Christians, it is not only our desire to pray for the world but also our responsibility. We have a power within us that can make changes in the world without even lifting a finger, so why not use that power? This is why we are reminded in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that if we, Christians, will humble ourself and pray, God will heal the world.
We need to pray for our world because we can, because it works and because it's good for our souls. Prayer not only changes things around us, it also changes things within us.

The Bible teaches us there are various types of prayer and each is a powerful tool in transforming our world. James 5:16 tells us that "the earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." If you are saved by Jesus, you are made righteous through Him. Therefore your prayers have great power and produce wonderful results. So pray.
Pray for the world, pray for its leaders, pray for the hearts of people, pray for it all because prayer works.
Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” -Jeremiah 29:7

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. God, your word says that in one Spirit, we all were baptized into one body. So today I come to you in prayer for that body.
